Mitte-Deutschland-Verbindung: Transport Minister Gives Green Light for Rail Expansion via Jena
Berlin/Jena, June 9, 2026 – A significant milestone for rail transport in Thüringen: Federal Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder has approved the expansion of the Mitte-Deutschland-Verbindung. While building rights for the Weimar–Jena–Gera section are now imminent, the financing of the 600-million-euro project remains an open question.
