Physicists in Jena: Paths through Changing Systems
Jena, September 23, 2026 – In the autumn of 1969, 108 students began their physics studies at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, including only eight women. A biographical analysis of four of these students provides a concise picture of how East German female academics experienced career, family, and political upheaval across two different German social systems.
