Jena (09.02.2026) – Planning security in the Paradies: FC Carl Zeiss Jena is setting the course for the coming years and consistently relying on its own youth. As the club confirmed, the contract with the promising goalkeeper talent Till Härting has been extended long-term. A decision that carries weight not only in terms of sports but also symbolically.
A Clear Sign of Trust
In the fast-moving football business, long-term contracts for talents are not a matter of course. The fact that FC Carl Zeiss Jena is extending the contract with Till Härting, which was originally due to expire in the summer, by three years until 2029 underlines the high esteem in which the 19-year-old is held at the club. Härting, who moved to the FCC Nachwuchsleistungszentrum in 2022, has quickly established himself within the first-team environment.
Last season, he already moved up to the Regionalliga squad as the third goalkeeper. He has also passed his test in the men’s game: in addition to an appearance in the Thüringenpokal, he got his first taste of Regionalliga action in December during the 3-2 away win against Hertha BSC II. Such appearances are essential for young keepers to develop the necessary calmness and composure for higher tasks.
Mentality and Technique Convince the Coaching Staff
The officials at the Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld are impressed by the goalkeeper’s development. Goalkeeping coach Paul Küas particularly praised the youngster’s work ethic. “Three years is a strong sign of the trust we place in him,” Küas is quoted as saying.
From a sporting perspective, Härting is characterized by a modern style of goalkeeping. According to the coaching staff, his strengths include:
- Distinct two-footedness, making him valuable in build-up play.
- Strong performance in one-on-one situations.
- An exemplary mentality on and off the pitch.
These attributes must now be further refined in the daily work within the goalkeeping team.
The Situation in the FCC Goal
With the contract extension, the club creates clarity in a key position. For now, Marius Liesegang remains the established number 1 in the Jena goal. However, competition stimulates business. For Härting, the new contract means the opportunity to develop further without the pressure of an uncertain future and to put pressure on the established players.
For the fans, it is also a pleasing signal: FC Carl Zeiss Jena remains true to its philosophy of not only training talents from its own youth ranks but also binding them to the club long-term and offering them a real perspective in professional football.
We wish Till Härting continued success and an injury-free time in the FCC jersey.
